Teens for Tomorrow seeks to give away $6,000

Teens for Tomorrow (T4T), an initiative of the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, is accepting grant applications from charitable organizations serving Rock Island County, ILL, and Scott County, Iowa. Applications are available to download at www.cfgrb.org.

Part of a nationwide trend, T4T unites and empowers Quad City area youth to lead and support change in the community through philanthropy. The T4T Board is comprised of 36 high school students from Rock Island County and Scott Counties. T4T meetings are held once a month from September – May at local nonprofits. Throughout the year, the students learn about the grant making process, identify community needs and address emerging issues. At the end of the year, the T4T Board allocates $5,000 to nonprofits in the greater Quad City area.

This year, an additional $1,000 is available for grant distribution after T4T Board member Anne Faust was honored as a Quad City Caring Award recipient by the Foundation in September 2009.

Grant applications must be submitted to the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, 852 Middle Road, Ste 100, Bettendorf, IA 52722 by March 1, 2010.
