Bryant-Holmes Scholarship for Mercer County High School

Amount: $1,000 yearly scholarship is renewable over four years, totaling $4,000.

  • Applicant must be a graduating senior from Mercer County High School.
  • Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA or show a marked improvement during the last two years of high school.

  • Preference will be given for the length of time attending school in the Mercer County school system and for those pursuing a degree in teaching or agriculture.

Corky Kress Golf Scholarship

  • Applicant must demonstrate an interest in conservation or environmental science and submit an essay on what they hope to contribute to these causes.

Dearrel Bates Memorial Scholarship

Amount: Up to $1,000.

  • Applicant must be a high school senior graduating from a MAC Conference high school, excluding Burlington, Iowa.
  • Applicant must have at least a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicant must plan to be full-time student working toward a bachelor degree in Education.
  • Financial need is the main criteria.
  • Merit evaluated by school activities, community, personal, and work experience.

Don E. and Charlotte Williams Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide grants to individuals for educational purposes at colleges and other post-high school institutions, including trade and technical schools.

Amount: Up to $3,000 for full-time students and $75 per semester hour for part-time students. 
Renewable: Yes, with the maintenance of a 2.0 GPA. Scholarship is renewable for up to four years.
Need-based: Yes.

Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Applicant must reside in Scott County, Iowa or Rock Island County, IL, OR
  • If the applicant does not reside in the counties specified, the applicant must be a lineal descendant or dependent of a former employee (worldwide) of Don E. Williams Company.
  • Applicant may be a graduating high school senior or a non-traditional student.
  • Applicant must not yet have a Bachelors degree.
  • Applicant should show evidence of leadership and character.
  • Applicant should submit an essay describing how their planned education will enable the applicant to achieve gainful employment in the applicant's chosen career.
  • Financial aid is a consideration, but not the determining factor.
  • Criteria include academic achievement, applicant’s determination to achieve his or her educational goals, and evidence of well-rounded interests and concern for others.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are lineal descendents of a former employee of the Don E. Williams Company who was in good standing with the company during their employment.

Donna Jean Arzberger Memorial Scholarship

Amount: Up to $2,000.

  • Applicant must be a graduating senior from Assumption, Central, West or North High Schools in Davenport, IA.
  • Applicant must have at least a 2.7 GPA.
  • Recipient will have demonstrated interest in college preparatory and/or technical/vocational studies.
  • Recipient will have demonstrated a strong presence in his/her school community.

Dr. and Mrs. Yang Ho Rhee Scholarship

  • Applicant must  plan to be a full-time college student enrolled for the purpose of earning credits for a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science undergraduate college degree at a member of the North Central Accrediting Agency or an equivalent accrediting agency in another geographic region in the United States.

John R. Kiley Memorial Scholarship

  • Applicant must be enrolled or plan to enroll as a college student working toward the completion of a Bachelors Degree in any subject.
  • Applicants with Iowa residence will be eligible to attend any university or college in or out of the state of Iowa.
  • Applicants with Illinois residence will be eligible to attend a university or college in Iowa only.

Kelly Marie McQuate Memorial Scholarship

Lawrence and Marilyn Matteson Scholarship I

Amount: 12 scholarships of up to $2,000 each

Renewable: Yes, for one additional year.
Need-based: Yes.

Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors and high school graduates pursuing studies in health sciences, technology or trades.
  • Adult applicants must live within the following school district areas and eligible high school seniors must attend the following high schools: Central Lee, Danville, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mediapolis, Mount Pleasant, New London, Waco, Wapello, and Winfield, or be home-schooled and living in any of these school districts.
  • Applicants must have at least a 2.0 GPA but not more than a 3.5 GPA. (GPAs of more than 3.5 are allowed, if necessary, to award sufficient scholarships under this program.
  • Selection criteria include financial need, personal character, and career goals, evaluated by a written essay, school activities, community and personal activities, and work experience.
  • Preference will be given to students seeking a two-year degree or completion of a certificate program in one of these areas.
  • Consideration will also be given to students who are seeking a four-year degree in the same fields.

Lawrence and Marilyn Matteson Scholarship II

Amount: 4 scholarships of up to $4,000 each.
Renewable: Yes, for one additional year.
Need-based: Yes.

Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Scholarships will be awarded to students who received two years of support from the Lawrence and Marilyn Matteson Scholarship I or the L.W. Matteson Scholarship for Southeastern Community College, and who intend to continue their education at a college or university for the third and fourth year of higher education.
  • The continuation of study must be in health sciences, technology or the trades, including (but not limited to) Engineering, Nursing, Medicine, or Agriculture.
  • Applicants must have successfully completed a two-year program or made satisfactory academic progress during their first two years of college. Strong preference will be given to applicants whose GPA in the first two years of college was at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
  • Moderate financial need will be one criteria (50%) for the scholarship. The other 50% will be determined by personal character and career goals as demonstrated by an essay, school activities, community and personal activities, and work experience.

Ligino Family Scholarship

Amount: Up to $500.

Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Applicant must be a graduating senior from United Township High School. 
  • Applicant must have at least a 3.0 grade point average.
  • Applicant must plan to be a full time student at college, university or trade school.
  • A rotating scholarship preference(not a requirement) in any single year is given to a student involved in or intending to pursue a career in the following:
    • 2018 – Business
    • 2019 - Basketball
    • 2020 - Track and Field
    • 2021 - Vocational Education
  • Financial need will be the primary criteria for the scholarship.

Louis F. Bulechek Memorial Scholarship

  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior residing in Rock Island County, Illinois or Scott County, Iowa.

Morency Family Scholarship

The Morency Family Scholarship was established to assist young adults with bettering themselves through continuing education and/or training. The primary focus of the scholarship is to assist individuals who financially might not otherwise be able to continue their education or training after graduation from high school. The number of scholarships awarded may vary from year to year. The target is to award at least two scholarships per year – one each to an Iowa and to an Illinois student.
Amount: Up to $2,000 per year.
Renewable: Yes. Scholarships are renewable over four years.
Need-based: Yes.

Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Applicant must be graduating or have graduated from a high school that is located in Carroll County, IL; Rock Island County, IL; Whiteside County, IL; Clinton County, IA; Muscatine County, IA; or Scott County, IA.
  • Applicants receiving GED certification are also eligible to apply.
  • Applicant must have at least a 2.0 GPA but no more than a 3.0 GPA (Higher GPAs may be considered, if necessary, to award all available scholarships).
  • Applicant must be enrolled in, or have been accepted into an educational institution/program and intend on working towards a degree, diploma, certificate of completion, etc.
  • Scholarships may be used to attend any accredited college or university (including online universities), or to receive vocational training/education.
  • Financial need is the primary consideration.
  • Preference will be given (but not a determining factor) to applicants who have at any time been in the foster care system.

Quad City Regional Auto Show Scholarship

College or University Scholarship

Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Applicant must attend or plan to attend a two or four year College or University 
  • Applicant must be working or have a parent or guardian currently working in a new car dealership located within the above counties for at least one year.
  • Applicant must not have previously received an Auto Show Scholarship.
  • Criteria to be considered include, but are not limited to, the applicants' participation in extracurricular activities, community service and work experience. Academic achievement. ACT/SAT test scores.
  • Financial need is a factor for consideration, but is not the primary factor.
  • Two letters of recommendation are required: one from someone employed at the sponsoring dealership (preferably an owner, officer, or general manager of the dealership) and the second from a reference of applicant’s choosing.

Automotive/Technical Trade School Scholarship

Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Applicant must attend or plan to attend Automotive Technical/Trade School.
  • Applicant must not have previously received an Auto Show Scholarship.
  • Factors to be considered include, but are not limited to, the applicants' participation in community service, extracurricular activities, and work experience.
  • Financial need is a factor for consideration, but is not the primary factor.
  • One letter of recommendation is required, from a reference of applicant's choosing.

Rotary Club of Davenport Scholarship for Mid-City High School

Amount:  Up to $1,250 yearly scholarship is renewable over two years, totaling $2,500.

Sophia N. Hapke Scholarship

Amount:  3 scholarships of $5,500 will be awarded in 2018

Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Applicant must be a graduating senior at an accredited public or parochial Davenport High School.
  • Applicant must have at least an ACT score of 24 and a GPA of 3.250. Weighted GPA must be converted to unweighted GPA for application.
  • Applicant must plan to enroll at an accredited four-year college or university in the USA.
  • Scholarships will be awarded on an objective and non-discriminatory basis without regard to age, gender, ethnicity, disability, or religion.
  • Awards are made on the basis on academic achievement, financial need, moral character, finalist interview and such additional criteria as may be deemed appropriate by the Selection Committee.
  • Financial need is the main consideration.

Ted and Eloise Pfeiff Scholarships I & II

Ted & Eloise Pfeiff Scholarship I

The primary scholarship is awarded every four years and will award a new scholarship in 2019.

Amount: Up to $3,000 for the first two years, $4,000 for the final two years, totaling $14,000.
Renewable: Yes. The scholarship is renewable for a total of four years as long as the student remains in good standing and maintains an education major. If the student accelerates their studies and completes their bachelor's degree in less than four years, the entire scholarship amount will be paid. If the student drops out of school for up to one year for legitimate reasons, the scholarship will resume when they return to school. The student would need to reapply if the interruption is for longer than one year.

Ted & Eloise Pfeiff Scholarship II

A secondary scholarship is awarded every two years and will award a new scholarship in 2019.

Amount: Up to $1,000
Renewable: Yes, for one additional year (for a total of $2,000).
Need-based: Yes.

Requirements and selection criteria for both scholarships:

  • Applicant must be a graduating senior at a public school in Davenport, Bettendorf, or Pleasant Valley School Districts.
  • Applicant must plan to enroll full-time for the purpose of earning credits for a bachelor degree and pursuing a major in education.
  • Applicant must plan to attend the University of Northern Iowa, Iowa State University or the State University of Iowa.
  • Recipients may attend a local community college for one year prior to transferring to their chosen state university.

Diana (Diane) De Pover-Nesseler Memorial Scholarship

 Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Applicant must be enrolled or enrolling at a community college in the Quad Cities area for purposes of pursuing a career in their chosen area of study.
  • Preference will be given to female students pursuing a career in Applied Technologies and/or Career Tech Programs.
  • Recipient should demonstrate the perseverance, tenacity, determination and love of life that Diana had during her lifetime, as demonstrated through work experience, community involvement, and school achievement.

Elise Brett Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded every four years and will award a new scholarship in 2018.

Amount: Up to $1,000 per year for four years. 
Renewable: Yes, with maintenance of at least a 2.0 GPA.
Need-based: No.

Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Applicants may be high school seniors, current college students, or non-traditional students. High school seniors and current college students must have earned their high school diploma or equivalent from a high school in Rock Island County, Illinois or Scott County, Iowa. Non-traditional students must currently reside in Rock Island County, Illinois or Scott County, Iowa.
  • Applicant must plan to attend an accredited educational institution to earn a college degree or a career-related certificate.
  • Applicant must have earned at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA in high school or in their most recent formal education. However, academic achievement should not be the primary determining factor in selecting a recipient from those who meet eligibility requirements.
  • The main criteria is the applicant’s demonstration of the connection of their educational plans to their career goals through essay, activities, and academics. Other criteria include community involvement and leadership, and academic achievement (25%). 
  • Financial need is not a consideration.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are not high school seniors (current college students or non-traditional students).
  • Renewal is dependent on making adequate academic progress (or the maintenance of at least a 2.0 GPA).

Great River Bend Cyclone Award Scholarship

Amount: Up to $1,000.
Renewable: No.
Need-based: No.

Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Applicant must enroll directly from a high school located in the following counties: Henry, IL; Knox, IL; Mercer, IL; Rock Island, IL; Whiteside, IL; Clinton, IA; Jackson, IA; Muscatine, IA; Scott, IA.
  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior planning to attend Iowa State University as a full-time student (12 semester hours minimum).
  • Merit evaluated by GPA, school activities, work history, community activities and personal activities.

Jayne Lee Andreesen Memorial Scholarship
 
Amount: Up to $1,000 for tuition only.
Renewable: No.
Need-Based: No.
 
Requirements and selection criteria:
  • Applicants must be a graduating high school senior from Pleasant Valley High School.
  • Applicants must have achieved high honors (a GPA of at least 3.75 after seven semesters of high school).
  • Applicants must have an interest in pursuing a career in a health-related field.
  • Applicants must plan to attend a college or vocational school upon graduation.
  • The selection criteria for this scholarship include character (Positive role model; self-disciplined and doesn’t quit easily; enthusiastic about life; morally and ethically strong; gets along well with people), community involvement (Cares about others; desires to help others for the good of mankind) and achievement (Dedicated and respected; Considered likely to succeed; not afraid of a challenge).

 Mariah Becker Memorial Scholarship

Mariah's life motto was taken from a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson - "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." We would like the recipient of this scholarship to show this same enthusiasm for life and would expect this to be exemplified through school involvement and extracurricular activities with special emphasis on service to others through school, church or community.

  • Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicant must be a graduating senior at Davenport Central High School.
  • Applicant must plan to become a full-time college student.
  • Personal interview with the Community Foundation’s scholarship committee is required.

Mike Condon Memorial Scholarship

: Two awards up to $1,500 each.
Renewable: Recipients may reapply, up to a total of four scholarships – one per year.

Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Applicant must reside in one of the following Iowa counties: Jackson, Clinton, Scott, Cedar, Johnson, or Muscatine.
  • Applicant must have at least a 2.25 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale (or equivalent average).
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a construction-related course of study.
  • Applicant must be enrolled full-time and pursuing an Associates or Bachelor’s of Arts degree from a college or university.
  • Each year, one award will be made to a graduating high school senior and one award will be made to a previous recipient of the scholarship with the maintenance of a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • A preference will be given to students who have completed construction-related curriculum or participated in school-sponsored construction-related activities.

Quad Cities Mexican American Organization Scholarship

Amount: Up to $1,000.
Renewable: Recipients may reapply.
Need-based: No.
 
Requirements and selection criteria:
  • Applicant must be of Hispanic descent.
  • Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Applicant must be attending or plan to attend a two or four year accredited college, university, graduate or trade school
  • Financial need is not a consideration.
  • Merit evaluated by school activities, community and personal activities, grade point average, and work experience.

Richard J. Collins Memorial Scholarship

  • Applicant must be a graduating senior from Moline High School.
  • Applicant must have at least a 3.0 grade point average.
  • Applicant must have participated in at least one sport in middle school or high school in Moline School District #40.
  • Applicant must display good citizenship.
  • Financial need is not a consideration.

Applicants must produce an essay on one of the following topics:

  • Looking Back at My Life
  • Looking at My Life Today
  • Looking Ahead at My Life

Special consideration will be given to those with a connection to Richard J. Collins. If the applicant had a parent or grandparent who was taught or coached by Richard J. Collins or knew him in some other way, the applicant should make reference to that experience.


Rotary Club of Davenport Scholarship – Scholastic/Leadership Scholarship
