The Mount Carroll Community Foundation is here to help our community's charitable projects and programs contribute to the quality of life in our community. One of the ways that is done is through grant awards.

Founded in 2011, the Mount Carroll Community Foundation, a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend,  annually distributes funds from its endowment earnings to community non-profit organizations that enhance the quality of life in the community we serve.

Grants will be awarded to nonprofit organizations for projects or programs that are located in or serve Mount Carroll, Illinois. Qualified organizations include those recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and other charitable programs. Organizations working in the field(s) of health and human services, education, the arts, the environment, youth services, social services and any other charitable field are eligible to receive grants from our granting programs.

Grants are not awarded for the following areas: annual fund raising, organizational endowment funds, deficit financing, grants to individuals, or for sectarian purposes. When a grant check is cashed, the organization is obligated to use it for the purpose given in the application. Projects may not be altered from what was proposed in the application.

The application process is now open.  Applications will be accepted until June 30th, 2017.  Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. The "Final Report" for ALL previous grants must be on file prior to submitting a new grant application.

The 2017 grant pool totals $2,100.  Each grant award will be for a minimum of $250 and generally will not exceed $1,000.

Application Process

The Mount Carroll Community Foundation, as a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend (CFGRB), uses the CFGRB’s online grants system. This allows our applicants to complete, save, and submit their grant applications and final reports in one place and have ongoing access to them.

Applicants can create their own organizational profile and login information on the system. They can then select the "Mount Carroll Community Foundation Grants" opportunity from the list and create an application.

Final Reports

Grant recipients will be assigned a final report form to complete in the same system where they completed the application. Grant recipients are required to file a final report describing the use of the funds, including copies of invoices paid as part of the project, after the project/program is completed or by February 1 of the following year. An organization shall be ineligible for future Mount Carroll Community Foundation grant funds until a completed report has been received.
