 Zeman Share Charitable Fund

Mike Zeman was born in 1949 and grew up in suburban Chicago. His father was an auto mechanic and his mother a homemaker. Cher was born in 1955 in Michigan and moved to Illinois when she was a child. Her father was a housing inspector for the federal government and her mother a grade school guidance counselor.

Mike graduated from Argo Community High School then moved on to the College of DuPage. Cher graduated from Barrington High School and received her degree from the same college years later in Travel and Tourism.

Cher stayed home while Mike worked at United Parcel Service for the next 36 years. Mike retired in 2005 but the couple did not decide where to relocate to until 2008. In 2009 their new home was ready in an active adult community in Goodyear, Arizona.

Mike continues his woodworking and remodeling skills in retirement while Cher continues to design and is involved in neighborhood activites. When not at home enjoying the good life, they travel in their motor home and currently travel mostly with the community RV club. When they choose to fly, it is usually back to Chicago to visit their daughter, Melissa, son-in-law Mike, and grandkids Ali, Emma, and Luke.

While the larger amounts of their philanthropic work have been in college scholarships in Illinois and Michigan, the Zemans learned of the severity of homeless children in Arizona. The Homeless Youth Connection strives to provide for the many needs of homeless high school students until they have the means to become self-sufficient. Going forth the Zeman's plan is to split their monies between these two endeavors.

Mike and Cher chose the Community Foundation at the recommendation of their financial advisor, Savant Capital Management. These charities give them great satisfaction and appreciation for the means to be able to do these things for others.
