Pets Have a Place to Go

Founded in 1902, the mission of the Humane Society of Scott County is to provide humane care for all of the lost, abandoned and unwanted pets in Scott County, to adopt these pets to caring, responsible, life-long homes and to educate the community about responsible pet ownership. Their primary purpose is to help change the lives of homeless pets by rescuing companion animals, reuniting pets with owners, and rehoming through shelter pet adoption.

The Board of Directors and Leadership Team acknowledge the need to provide loyal donors with a legacy giving opportunity to invest in the financial stability, sustainability and future growth of the Humane Society of Scott County. By establishing an endowment with the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, companion animals will be rescued, cared for, reunited with their owners and given a second chance at a happier life in a loving, forever home. Community members of all ages will be educated on responsible pet ownership, the importance of spaying and neutering pets to reduce overpopulation, and how to stay safe around animals.

You Can be Recognized

The Humane Society of Scott County recognizes major, bequest, and endowment donors by name on plaques displayed in the shelter's lobby. Four levels of recognition giving were identified by the Board of Directors:

  • $1,000-$10,000 - Bronze Level
  • $10,000-$25,000 - Silver Level
  • $25,000-$50,000 - Gold Level
  • $50,000 plus - Corian Level (individual donor hard-surface plaque)

All gifts are recognized on the shelter's Cyber Wall of Recognition website page updated quarterly, and in the shelter's annual report published and distributed annually in May and posted on their website. All endowment donors will be invited to attend the shelter's annual meeting in May and recognized by name during the membership meeting program. Every gift to the Humane Society of Scott County helps homeless pets have a chance at a happier life. Somebody here needs you!
