Friends of the Foundation Fund

Since 1964, area residents have been turning to the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend to "plant the seed of giving" in our community. The Community Foundation is a public foundation serving thousands of people who share a common concern - improving the quality of life in our community.

The Community Foundation is a collection of endowed funds established by individuals, organizations and corporations - a community of donors. Individuals, families, businesses, and organizations create permanent charitable funds that help our region meet the challenges of changing times. The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend embodies a simple concept: People working together can make a difference.

The Community Foundation has been ruled by the Internal Revenue Service to be a publicly-supported, tax exempt organization, under provisions of Section 509 (a)(1) of the Tax Code, and is not a private foundation. The Community Foundation is not subject to the excise tax levy and various restrictions placed on private foundations by the Tax Reform Act of 1969.

"Through his estate, Ed wanted to provide for his family and give something back to the community."
