Getting Her Hands Dirty Diana (Diane) De Pover-Nesseler Memorial Scholarship

Diana De Pover was an expert at automotive collision repair. Her father, Larry worked at the Rock Island Arsenal but he also worked on cars, and even though he didn’t steer her in that direction, she apparently had the aptitude. She was born in 1969 and graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1987. She played the flute and was a member of the marching band. Later, she graduated from Scott Community College with a Certificate in Automotive Collision Repair. She built a successful career and a great reputation based on her unique skills, excelling in a field not usually populated with women.

Helping Other Women Pursue Their Careers

Although Diana’s life ended too soon in an automobile accident in 2009, she is still helping people through the Diana De Pover-Nesseler Memorial Scholarship. Each year, one or more scholarships of $750 each are awarded to deserving female students enrolled at area Community Colleges and studying Automotive Collision Repair, Automotive Repair, or other career fields that are considered non-traditional for women.

Do You Qualify for the Scholarship?

Scholarship recipients must demonstrate financial need and the “perseverance, tenacity, determination, and love of life that Diana had during her lifetime.”

For a people person like Diana De Pover, there could be no better tribute than helping to boost women into a career path. The ripple effect – both personally and economically -- will be felt in families throughout the Quad Cities area for generations.
