312 Gillespie Avenue Historic Foundation Endowment

 

The 312 Gillespie Historical Foundation fund was established in 2002 by the volunteer board of the 312 Gillespie Historical Foundation to support historical preservation at 312 Gillespie Avenue, the Rock Island Arsenal Club House on the Rock Island Arsenal.

After the dissolution of the volunteer organization and government prohibition of charitable receipts for operations of the property, the Community Foundation Board of Directors voted to use its variance power to apply the annual charitable distribution of the 312 Gillespie fund to the Colonel Davenport Historical Foundation, a volunteer group also dedicated to the purpose of landmark historic preservation on the Arsenal Island.
