Community Foundation Promotes VP of Finance and VP of Programs
The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend is pleased to announce the promotions of Kathy Graves and Matt Mendenhall. Graves will serve as the Foundation’s first vice president of finance and Mendenhall as the new vice president of programs.
“The appointments of Kathy and Matt are well deserved,” said Susan Skora, Community Foundation president/CEO. “Both are team-oriented individuals who possess the talents and abilities to lead and will enable the Foundation to further its work in the community.”
Graves has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from St. Ambrose University, and was awarded her CPA designation in 1990. She spent two years in public accounting, four years in the private sector and five years working for nonprofit organizations before joining the Community Foundation in 1999.
Mendenhall graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell College and a Master of Social Work degree from St. Ambrose University. He recently completed his doctoral degree at Case Western Reserve University. Matt had 19 years of experience in nonprofit organizations before joining the Community Foundation in 2007.
The Community Foundation is also proud to welcome Marlin ‘Hap’ Volz to its staff. In his voluntary role, Volz will serve as an Estates and Trusts Senior Consultant for the Foundation.
Volz is a graduate of Duke University and the Duke University School of Law. He served more than 40 years as a trust officer and the Senior Vice President of Wells Fargo Bank before he retired in 2009. Volz currently sits on the board of H.E.L.P. Legal Assistance as Vice President and is serving his third term as a member of the Council of the Probate and Trust Law section of the Iowa Bar Association.
