$50,000 challenge issued to Humility of Mary Shelter

The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend announced a $50,000 challenge grant to support the work of Humility of Mary Shelter. In recognition of the organization’s efforts to provide emergency shelter and leadership regarding the needs of homeless individuals, the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors approved a dollar-for-dollar challenge.

“In order for Humility of Mary Shelter to continue providing care for the homeless population, they need the support and backing of our community,” said Susan Skora, Community Foundation President/CEO. “This challenge will help them reach out to new donors who share a concern for our community’s most vulnerable people.”

All donations for the match must be made to the Fund for the Homeless at the Community Foundation. Grant and matching dollars can then be accessed by Humility of Mary Shelter as needed. This challenge opportunity begins December 1, 2009 and ends June 30, 2010.
