Community Foundation to match first $10,000 in donations to Flood Relief and Recovery Fund

Bettendorf, Iowa – The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend has responded to the natural disasters impacting our communities by establishing the 2008 Flood Relief and Recovery Funds. The first $10,000 in donations to these funds will be matched with $10,000 from the Community Foundation’s Emergency Relief Fund.

“Gifts will support the work of nonprofit organizations providing assistance to victims affected by the flood,” said Susan Skora, Community Foundation president/CEO. “Although the Quad Cities has been fortunate to avoid most of the effects of the flooding, communities located in the Foundation’s 17-county service area have experienced devastating losses.”

The Community Foundation serves counties directly affected by the floods including Louisa, Des Moines and North Lee. The Foundation has established Flood Relief and Recovery Funds for each of the three counties, of which its affiliate community foundations are located. Support from these funds will be made available by grants to nonprofits that are providing services to flood victims or to agencies that have had direct flood damage.
