Mike Drymiller presents the Quad City Caring Award to the Engebrecht family of Milan and their friend Karen Platt. From left to right: Mike Drymiller, Ben Engebrecht, Karen Platt, Brian Engebrecht, Katie Engebrecht, Christine Engebrecht, and Caleb Engebrecht. When Ben was two years old, Christine decided they would spend quality time together delivering meals to home-bound seniors. As Katie and Caleb were born, all the kids went on the weekly journey. As soon as they could walk, they would help deliver the meals to the door. Family friend Karen Platt prepared the meals at Aramark, and when she retired she began delivering with the Engebrechts. It's an amazing story of giving, and of parents serving as role models. They were nominated by the Rock Island Senior Center/Project NOW. Photo by Mike Steffenson.
